Absence and AI

Hello all … been a while.

I felt the need to post on here should anyone still come here looking for anything I’ve made. Truth be told it has been a hot minute since I made anything. That is due to the whole AI madness that has taken hold.

Turns out that whatever my dirty mind can dream up there is probably someone who’s generated it in seconds and I can find it. Sort of takes the creative spark away from you. That being said, playing about with it myself does peak my curiosity. Not to generate something and call it my own work I’ve created but just idea of what I could make should I take the time to sit down and work on something.

It also makes me wonder, should I make something, wether people would just say “It’s AI” or “Why take the time to make it when I can do it in seconds” Well, being a perverted Englishman, my government feels the need to police everything and I can’t generate spicy images. So, I still have to make things the old fashioned way. I have to use a VPN to get into my OWN blog nowadays for fucks sake.

What I’m getting at is I feel I want to make some new images but I’m trying to weigh up whether using that time is worth it.

Hopefully you’ll see something new in the future. Even though the future looks mechanical and bleak for us all :D

Meanwhile, enjoy an AI generated cheap ass hooker that anyone with a smartphone can generate within 5 seconds.

  1. The future does indeed look grim for fakers, hence why going against the current is admirable.

In any case, create whatever and however makes you feel fullfilled!

  2. I've been following your work since around 2018, from back before AI-generated fakes were even a thought in peoples heads, and yeah I can understand why you're in a tough position.

AI has been taking over everything in our lives, including outside the faking community. I can't tell you how many billboards there are in my city promoting AI companies and it irritates me to no end knowing that these companies are built off stealing intellectual property of others to generate slop and misinformation for the masses while governments around the world write a blank check for them to build data centers and skirt regulations while ignoring real issues affecting people.

It's extremely demoralizing. But that's why we need people like you. It may sound funny considering the kind of work you do can't really be shared outside certain channels and has to remain anonymous, but it's nice to know that there are still actual humans out there using real skills and dedicating time to digital art, even if it is in this form. More and more over the last couple years I've seen fakers either completely give up on faking, or worse, decide to just phone it in and start using AI for everything. Instead of putting out a quality fake every week or so, they're pumping out these sets of 20-30 crappy photos of girls that look like they're made of rubber with weird proportions and janky faces. There's no soul in their work, they're just pushing out batches of AI fakes daily without putting any real thought into it.

Worse yet is how much people seem to like it. As an artist I imagine it must be difficult to spend time and effort creating one of your pieces only for someone else to type some prompts into a program, generate a fake in 5 seconds, and get more praise from morons who somehow think it actually compares to what you do. Like you said, anyone with a smartphone can make something like this nowadays. It baffles me, in my opinion there has never been an AI fake that can hold a candle to a well-made photoshop fake.

At the end of the day, the AI wave isn't going to stop. As image generation becomes better by the day and more accessible, people who have always wanted to make their own fakes but weren't willing to put in the time to learn real skills to make them or pay someone who has those skills will just keep using it. So really the only thing that matters is do you still enjoy making fakes? We may no longer be in the golden age of faking, but is it still a hobby that brings you joy and a reprieve from the stress of daily life? Is it still something you think is worth it to do, even if you're getting less attention than before?

I can tell you that there are still many people out there, myself included, that would love for you to keep doing what you do. Even though your last post wasn't since June of last year, I still check this blog every couple of weeks in the hopes that I'll see something new pop up. I can't tell you how glad I was to see a new post from this year when I opened the blog today, though I had a pretty good idea what the content would be.

Either way, I wish you the best of luck in whatever you choose to do. Personally I hope you'll keep faking, there aren't enough fakers like you around anymore. But if you're ready to fully retire from this world I completely understand and just want to say thank you for the years of great work!

  3. Thanks for the lengthy comment Fdr19971 appreciate the words and time taken to say all that. I agree with it all too.

It’s nice to know people still come here to check in, even if I’ve been quiet, I’m sure I’ll make more things in the future or find some other way to satisfy my want/need for creating things.

  4. Glad to see you post again!

As the other person said, the future for fakes looks grim.

I don't care if you use AI or not as long as it looks good. I have to use AI in photoshop for a job, and always have to touch up stuff to make it look good and/or accurate. It's a tool, and in the right hands it is awesome to see. So if you post anything in the future, we know you had a hand in making it look good.
